"Tyson"
Introducing adorable "Tyson"! Tyson is 7 years old and living in Eastern Europe. He is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a hearing impairment, and hydrocephalus. He was also born premature. Tyson also has behaviors associated with autism, but does not have an official diagnosis.
Tyson is a sweet little boy who has waited YEARS for a family to call his own. I can't believe that even after all this time he is still waiting. Tyson enjoys playing with musical toys. He loves to be sung to, and receiving affection. Tyson laughs when teased and played with. He is gentle with other children, although he does not attempt to play with them.
Tyson was born from a twin pregnancy, but it is unclear what happened to his twin. He recognizes his name. Tyson is able to eat with a spoon with assistance, and drinks from a cup. He is not yet potty trained. He can walk independently, but unsteadily. He does not play purposefully with toys, and only plays with toys that make music. He does not make eye contact, and is currently nonspeaking. Tyson primarily communicates through sounds and vocalizations. He does have a history of self injurious behaviors, and frequent episodes of yelling and crying.
Tyson had a shunt placed as an infant. He does have a hearing aid, but he does not like to wear it and therefore does not utilize it often. He is currently receiving physical therapy, and regularly meets with a neurologist and ophthalmologist. Tyson attends a preschool group at a local school. He also takes medication to help with his behaviors, and has made progress.
Tyson currently has $1,854 in his personal grant with Reece's Rainbow towards his adoption! He is also listed as "Theodore" with Reece's Rainbow, where he has $90.00 in his personal grant.
Adopting a child with high support needs like "Tyson" can be intimidating, but he is a lovable guy who just wants someone to love him back and give him the time and attention he so deserves. As Tyson gets older, I fear that his family may never come. Please don't let this sweet boy go overlooked yet another year.
UPDATE JANUARY 2025
Tyson is now listed as "Theodore" with Children's House International! He is much taller, and getting older. Sweet Tyson has waited for so long, and I hope his time for a family is coming soon. Could he be your son?
