"Trina"

Meet beautiful "Trina"! Trina is 14 years old, and living in the Caribbean. She is diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia and Depression.

Trina GLOWS with positivity! She enjoys participating in activities at her institution, especially painting and dancing. Trina enjoys spending time with peers, and is a leader in her social groups. She is described as "responsible, obedient, dedicated, organized, and friendly".

Trina has the tendency to withdraw, and is diagnosed with mild depression. She often feels insecure, and has a low self-esteem. Trina has a hard history, and many of her feelings and behaviors are a result. However, she overall has a calm state of mind.

Trina has Sickle Cell Anemia, and is treated with folic acid.

Trina has $559.50 in her personal grant with Reece's Rainbow!

Trina is diagnosed with a blood disorder known as Sickle Cell Anemia. This is an inherited red blood disorder in which there are not enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen throughout the body. The lack of oxygen and healthy cells causes them to sickle, or block blood flow. This is very painful. Furthermore, higher altitudes greater than 5,000 feet above sea level can be very dangerous and painful due to lack of oxygen. While there is no cure, treatments can relieve pain and help prevent complications associated with the disease. Most people with Sickle Cell Anemia can live very normal and full lives.

A family interested in adopting Trina should be prepared for the lifelong level of care that comes with Sickle Cell Anemia, and should not live at a high altitude or in the mountains.

Sweet "Trina" has waited for many, many years just for a place to call her forever home. With her aging out in October 2025, her time is running out quickly. I hope and pray that Trina gets to experience the love of a family she so deserves, and I know she wants to have. Don't be afraid to inquire about a teenager. She needs a family!
