"Salvador"

Meet adorable "Salvador"! Salvador is 5 years old and living in South America. He is diagnosed with a developmental delay and Norrie's Disease. Salvador is also blind.

Salvador is an adorable little guy with lots of potential! He has a sweet smile and big brown eyes.

Salvador can walk, jump, and climb stairs with help. He combines words, counts to 20, and can say about 25 words. Salvador can feed himself with help.

Salvador receives physical, occupational, and speech therapy on a weekly basis.

Salvador has a diagnosis of being deaf. This means that he has significant hearing loss to some degree. Most deaf individuals learn to communicate through sign language, and lead full and happy lives. Depending on severity, cochlear implants or hearing aids may benefit the deaf individual, but they will always be deaf. Educate yourself on the Deaf community and culture.

In Salvador's case, he is diagnosed as having Norrie's Disease. While this disease mainly impacts vision and cognitive development, individuals with this disease often also have vascular abnormalities in the inner ear. This can lead to progressive hearing loss, often beginning in early childhood. At four years old, Salvador could really benefit from early intervention, including speech therapy and sign language. Contact an agency to learn more about how Salvador's condition impacts him.

Salvador has $2,075.34 in his personal grant with Reece's Rainbow towards his adoption! He is also eligible for a grant of up to $5,000 with RODS Heroes!

"Salvador" is still young, and waiting for his forever family! There is time to intervene and get him the medical care and therapies he so needs to be successful. Could this handsome boy be the son you always wanted? Click the link to make an inquiry or donate to Salvador's adoption!

UPDATE OCTOBER 2022

"Salvador" is listed as "Scott" with Children's House International! He also now has an additional diagnosis of being deaf. Salvador is currently attending a school for children with special needs. He does not get jealous when his foster mom gives attention to other children, and adjusts quickly to new environments. Salvador is fully dependent on his caregivers and needs constant supervision. It can be hard for him to fall asleep. He loves to imitate animal sounds and listening to music! Salvador is able to say a few words, and sings songs. When he is upset or needs something he will speak in a loud tone of voice. He can be a shy boy with unfamiliar people, but warms up quickly. He also can follow simple instructions. Salvador continues to receive occupational, physical, and speech therapy.

UPDATE JUNE 2024
