Urgent Need: Congenital Heart Defect needing repair

Meet "Selah"! Selah is 8 years old, and living in Southeast Asia. She is diagnosed with a congenital heart defect.

Selah is incredibly sweet and compassionate. When others are upset, Selah is always there to offer a hug and cheer them up. She loves to do arts and crafts, and will give them away as gifts. She loves being around people and other children, and is very engaged with all of the activities at her orphanage. Selah told agency staff that she is good at shopping! Her favorite subject at school is language arts, and her favorite toys are dolls and stickers. She loves playing tag with her best friend at the orphanage. Selah is so much fun to be around!

There are many unknowns about her heart condition and prognosis. A family needs to be prepared for uncertainty in her future. Physicians in the United States have reviewed Selah's medical file, and feel that if once adopted in the United States, if it is determined that she is not a candidate for surgical repair, her lifespan will be much shorter, and will likely lead to a very early death. Selah does take medication for her heart condition. Selah interacts well with peers and caregivers. She is shy around new people, but once comfortable she is very confident and talkative! Selah has no reported behavioral concerns, and is very truthful. She is a very good communicator.

Selah has expressed that she knows what adoption is, and WANTS to be a part of a family someday! She especially wants a family to send her a photo album, and to have siblings and pets.

Due to her condition, Selah attends school at her orphanage. She can do simple addition and subtraction, and is currently learning multiplication.

Selah would do well in any sort of family as she gets along with children and people of all ages, but the family REALLY needs to be prepared for unknowns with her condition, especially if she is not a candidate for surgical repair.

Selah has a $10,000 grant with Holt International!

Sweet "Selah" may not have much time left if she doesn't receive quality medical care ASAP. I really worry about her condition, because while she is active and thriving now, that can all change so quickly. Please consider saying YES to the gem of a girl that is Selah! Send an email inquiry below to the agency and specifically inquire about "Selah" in Asia! She's running out of time...
