"Ricky"
Meet sweet and adorable "Ricky"! Ricky is 4 years old and living in South America. He is diagnosed with agenesis of corpus callosum, and broncho-obstructive syndrome.
Ricky enjoys toys that make sounds, and he LOVES music. He has lots of fun throwing toys to the floor and having his caregivers give them back again and again. Ricky's favorite foods are mashed potatoes and mashed pumpkin, but he doesn't like to eat vegetables or food that is too dry.
Ricky has not formed a closed attachment with any specific caregivers, but he does allow adults to hold him and give him affection. He is currently living in an institution. He makes eye contact and recognizes his name, but cannot yet follow simple directions. Ricky communicates primarily through sounds. He is generally calm, but will cry when overstimulated. Ricky has not yet made any attempts to speak or imitate words, nor does he initiate interaction with other children. He is able to hold objects, and sit up independently. Ricky can stand with support, but not for long periods of time. He can walk with support. Ricky has a low responses to external stimuli, but it has been noted that he doesn't like rough textures.
Ricky attends physical therapy, and has made tremendous progress.
Ricky has $100 in his personal grant with Reece's Rainbow towards his adoption!
Little "Ricky" has been through so much in his short life, which has likely contributed to his significant delays along with his medical diagnoses. I am sure with the proper care and unconditional love, he would just grow and thrive! Hoping that this sweet, perfect boy doesn't have to wait much longer. Could you be his family?
