Priscilla sadly passed away in August 2024

"Priscilla"

Today we are highlighting adorable little "Priscilla"! Priscilla is 3 years old and living in South Asia. In addition to being blind, Priscilla is also diagnosed with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and congenital adrenal hypoplasia.

Priscilla is a cuddly little girl who is so loved by all of her caregivers! She was gifted a swing last Christmas that she loves to sit in and take in the motion. She is calm and happy when she is interacted with.

Priscilla has become more alert and engaged since arriving at her new residential care home in July 2021. She can roll on her sides, but struggles to maintain head control. She has not yet developed receptive language, but will smile and coo when she is spoken to. Her care home was recently gifted some standers in September 2022, and Priscilla got the chance to try it out! She was not happy about it, but her caregivers came to talk to and soothe her, and once she was calmer she continued to be in her stander. It is unclear whether she will continue to use a stander or any other types of therapies.

There is no specific information in Priscilla's bio about her blindness, but an agency can give more info.

Priscilla has $854 in her personal grant with Reece's Rainbow towards her adoption!

"Priscilla" is still a tiny girl, and thankfully has not yet had to experience all the heartache and hardship that comes with being an orphan. She is still so young and vibrant, and needs her mama to come and scoop her up! Priscilla needs access to quality medical care and therapies, but most of all she needs a family. Could you be that family?

Priscilla's residential care home is called Sarah's Covenant Homes. By committing to sponsoring her, you will receive updates as well as photos! Has "Priscilla" stolen your heart like she has mine? I am including the link to the option to sponsor her. I encourage you to ask yourself if she could be your daughter! She's waited way too long. She might be in a "good" care home, but that will never replace her need for a family!

UPDATE DECEMBER 2022

UPDATE JANUARY 2023

A Facebook post from Priscilla's residential care home states that she is extremely loved and adored by all of her caregivers, who you will never find too far away! Priscilla's medical needs are currently stable, and with routine care, she could THRIVE. Priscilla is known for her sweet smile, giggles, and occasional big belly laughs. Priscilla is very loved by her caregivers, who love to dress her up and dote on her. Priscilla has a good daily routine! She does receive physical therapy, and has come to enjoy and love being in her stander! Priscilla prefers and enjoys interacting with her caregivers and peers at a higher level than on the floor or in her wheelchair. Physical therapy usually tires her out, so she will take a nap after lunch. After her nap, Priscilla has some tummy time (which she enjoys!) while watching TV or listening to music. Her favorite sensory activity is playing with Kinetic Sand, and she will squish it in her hands or fling it around the room, laughing.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 2023

Priscilla prefers a slow morning, easing into her day by her caregiver’s side or in her arms for a snuggle. After her morning snack, Priscilla has a PT session and then spends time in her Zing stander. When she is in it, she interacts with her peers and caregivers at a higher level compared to when she is on the floor or in her wheelchair. Priscilla is tired after all that exercising, so after lunch she has a nap. In the afternoons, Priscilla takes part in tummy time which she likes to do while watching TV or listening to music. Then she joins group sensory play time! Priscilla’s favourite is kinetic sand. She will squish it in her hand or fling it all over the room, laughing. Evenings are a little more relaxed and our sweet girl ends up in her favourite spot, right back with her caregiver. She has a sweet relationship with her caregiver, who loves dressing her up in the very fanciest of outfits, no matter what the occasion! Priscilla is always the best dressed girl in the room!
