"Nevan"
Introducing adorable little "Nevan"! Nevan is 6 years old and living in Eastern Europe. In addition to being blind, Nevan is also diagnosed with a congenital heart defect (ASD), hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, and hypospadias. Nevan was also born premature.
Nevan is living in a large orphanage notorious for neglect. He desperately needs a family so that he can get access to quality medical care and therapies that he's not currently receiving. His diagnoses are lengthy and intimidating, but Nevan is so deserving of love and affection. He needs out before it's too late.
Nevan loves attention from his caregivers, and will smile and laugh when teased. He loves to hear the voices of familiar adults.
Nevan can turn from his back to his belly and vice versa with support. He reacts to the tone of voice when people speak to him. Nevan's sleep is calm, and he falls asleep on his own. He is currently being bottle fed. He is calm when being changed or bathed.

Nevan's specific CHD is a atrial septal defect or persisting foramen ovale. It has began to resolve on its own and he has not needed any surgery as of May 2022. It is recommended that he be followed by a cardiologist after he is adopted. An agency can provide more information on Nevan's CHD and how it impacts him.
Nevan had shunt surgery in April 2018 as an infant, and has had two more shunt surgeries since then. He is not currently receiving any therapy.
It is suggested that Nevan start receiving physical therapy and kinesiotherapy. He should also be followed by a neurologist and cardiologist.

At 6 years old, he has spent his entire life in one of the largest children's homes in his country and is now awaiting a family that can envelop him in warmth, care, and the specialized therapies he requires. Nevan's start in life was challenging, including low birth weight and a condition following intraventricular hemorrhage. He has been diagnosed with infantile cerebral palsy – spastic quadriparesis, internal hydrocephalus (condition post-ventriculoperitoneal [VP] shunt), cortical blindness, and a congenital heart malformation known as atrial septal defect type 2. Additionally, Nevan has hypospadias, bilateral cryptorchidism, and his development, both physically and psycho-motor, is significantly delayed, accompanied by severe mental delay. Despite these challenges, Nevan's spirit and joy for life shine through. Nevan revels in the sound of soft, gentle speech, responding with bright laughter. He finds comfort and joy in tactile interactions with adults, highlighting his appreciative nature for human touch and connection. Although he is unable to engage with toys or play with other children and relies entirely on the care of adults, his resilience and joy in simple interactions embody his strength of spirit. Nevan's dietary needs are met with care, incorporating common transitional pureed food and essential protein supplements. Like any child, Nevan experiences moments of discomfort, perhaps during bath time or due to irregular bowel movements, but finds solace in soothing voices and gentle caresses. His sleep is tranquil, suggesting a peaceful spirit. Nevan's family will need to offer profound dedication, love, and the special care that ensures his unique needs are met—opening their hearts and home to a boy with an indomitable spirit and a contagious joy in life’s gentle moments.
Nevan is now listed as "Oakley" with Lifeline! His most recent update reads: Nevan enjoys the gentle sound of someone talking and loves to laugh! He is fully dependent on the care of adults. Nevan is fed via a baby bottle. He is easily calmed and comforted by gentle sounds and a gentle touch. Nevan sleeps well through the night! Nevan will do best in a stable home that can give him the encouragement, stability, and resources that he needs!

Nevan is now listed as "Oakley" with Agape! His recent update with Rainbowkids reads: 6 year old Nevan is a loving boy living in an Eastern European country. Nevan enjoys holding onto toys and smiles when they make noises or show lights. He has a positive and calm demeanor and laughs around his caretakers. He is easily soothed and enjoys observing the world around him.
