FAMILY FOUND SEPTEMBER 2024!

"Dawn" & "Donna"

Meet adorable TWINS "Dawn" & "Donna"! These sweet girls are 4 years old and living in Eastern Europe. Dawn is diagnosed with hydrocephalus and hypoplasia of the corpus callosum. Donna is diagnosed with a visual impairment, glaucoma, and anemia. Both girls are diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and were born premature.

Dawn & Donna were born in Ukraine, but then due to war were moved to their current country. These sweet girls have already experienced so much trauma, but still they smile and are ready for a family to love and advocate for them! The girls are currently living in a foster family as of May 2024. When it comes to receiving attention, Dawn and Donna can become jealous of each other, but they are beginning to truly bond with one another and will hug and hold hands. They are described as positive children, who, with the right supports, will continue to make lots of progress! Dawn & Donna enjoy playing in the inflatable pool in the backyard, listening to music and singing, and receiving massages from their foster mom.

Both girls have shown a healthy attachment towards their foster mother, and are able to follow directions. They have begun speaking meaningful words, and will repeat syllables. They can eat mashed food with a fork or spoon and chew well.

The girls both attend therapy twice a week, and their foster mother is proactive in finding ways to support their development.

A family that met the girls in 2023 reported that: "I met these twins when I visited my daughter for trip one in October 2023. One twin, [Donna], was active and was able to stand holding on and cruise around her crib. She was able to climb right out of her floor crib and back in herself. It was an activity for her and she did it with great ease. She wasn’t trying to escape at any point and would just flip In and out over and over again. She seemed like what you would expect for a toddler. She stopped what she was doing when someone called her name and turned in the direction of their voice. The other sweet twin, [Dawn], was always laying down when I saw her. Sometimes in a crib, sometimes in a seat. My daughter asked for “baby” all the time and they would put this twin, [Dawn], in her crib with her to lay together. They said she was more “severe”. She definitely seemed more infantile. They were in a really great place where they got plenty of food and were carried around a lot by the staff there. There were 8 kids on that floor in four rooms. The twins shared a room. I believe they are now in a foster situation. They def were pretty easygoing. They had a lot of musical toys which they seemed to like. The active twin [Donna], kept herself busy a lot but the quiet twin, [Dawn], seemed to love cuddling and other kids being around her. I think some of the delays they have may be related to vision impairments. I would imagine they would do well with siblings."

"Dawn"

Adorable Dawn is a joyful little girl who is content playing on the floor. She especially enjoys musical toys.

Dawn can turn in both directions, but cannot yet sit independently or crawl. She is fully dependent on her caregivers. Dawn is nonspeaking, and expresses her needs primarily through crying. She is able to sit with support.

"Donna"

Donna is a beautiful little girl with a head of curls! She loves cuddles and affection.

Donna is able to walk independently, and is familiar with her environment. She is tenacious, and explores. Donna is not yet speaking, but she has begun to babble and repeat sounds and syllables. She is described as restless, and does engage in some self-soothing or stimulating behaviors.

Dawn and Donna have $144 in their personal grant with Reece's Rainbow towards their adoption!

Could you be the family these precious little girls are needing? "Dawn" & "Donna" will likely need excellent supports for their developmental delays and medical needs, but they are so deserving of a family that will give them that and SO much more!
