FAMILY FOUND MARCH 2024!

"Drako"

Meet "Drako"! Drako is 9 years old and living in Eastern Europe. In addition to a cleft palate, Drako is also diagnosed with a developmental delay. He is not formally diagnosed with autism, but it has been considered.

Drako's favorite toys are those that play music or light up. He likes to listen to music, and fidgeting with objects like Legos.

Drako is significantly delayed in the areas of speech, motor skills, and cognitive processing. He has been living in a foster family since April 2019. Drako can walk and run independently. He requires assistance with eating, and can only eat pureed foods. He also needs help with hygiene, and is not yet potty trained. Drako would rather play alone and struggles to focus and imitate others. He struggles to adapt to change. Drako is mostly nonverbal, and communicates by using gestures and body language. He responds to his name but cannot carry out instructions.

Drako has had surgery to repair his cleft lip and palate, but will need additional surgeries.

As of 2023, Drako is in first grade and attends a school for children with special needs. He is currently receiving speech therapy, and also works with a kinesthesia therapist, psychologist, and special pedagogue.

A family interested in adopting Drako is encouraged to consult with an international adoption doctor and autism specialists.

Drako has $817.12 in his personal grant with Reece's Rainbow, as well as a $2,000 grant with Hand in Hand!

This sweet boy has waited years for a family to call his own. "Drako" is getting bigger, and he needs the love and consistency that comes with a forever family, as well as access to quality medical care and therapies. Please don't let Drako spend yet another year waiting. Click the link to donate to his adoption or make an inquiry!

UPDATE DECEMBER 2023

Drako is now listed as "Jasper" with Alliance for Children! His update with Rainbowkids reads: Drako is almost 9 years old and living with a foster family in Eastern Europe. He spent first 4 years of his life in baby home and joined his foster family in 2019. Drako was born with cleft lip & palate and has some delay in his neuro-psychical development. After a couple of surgeries, his mouth was recovered and now he is able to eat normally. Drako can walk, run and climb unsteadily. He has some problems manipulating  smaller objects. Drako's play is mainly throwing objects and chasing them. He also prefers to play with musical toys. Drako's most favorite is his scooter. This school year, Drako is attending second grade in a local public school. He also visits a child center where a kineseotherapiest, psychologist and special educator are working with him. Drako is working with a speech therapist to improve his speech abilities as well. Drako does not show great interest in the other children but gladly accepts the company of adults and is happy when given attention.  Drako is physically healthy and has been vaccinated against all the diseases included in the immunization calendar of his country. He would love to find a family to take care of his needs with whom he can ride scooters! I hope and pray that 2024 is FINALLY Drako's year. He's been overlooked and waiting for FAR too long! Scroll up and click the link to inquire or donate towards his adoption! Mama where are you?
