Introducing adorable "Faruq"! Faruq is 3 years old and living in Africa. He is diagnosed with craniosynostosis and a speech delay.
Faruq is a sweet little boy who loves to be around people.
Faruq is able to walk independently, responds to sounds, and smiles at familiar people. He can also follow simple instructions. Faruq is noted as having an expressive language delay but is able to speak a few words.
Craniosynostosis is a birth defect in which the bones in the fetuses skull fuses too early. This usually happens before the brain is fully formed. As the brain grows, the skull becomes misshapen, and this can slow or limit the growth of the brain. There are a few different types of craniosynostosis, though it is not known was Faruq's specific diagnosis is. Most children born with this condition are healthy, although in some cases, it can cause developmental or intellectual delays. In the most severe cases, surgery is required to help relieve pressure on the baby's brain.
It is not known if Faruq has had surgery to correct his skull, but he was developmentally on track as of October 2022, with a speech delay, Contact the agency to learn more.
