"Arne"
Meet "Arne" aka "Luca"! Arne is 8 years old, and living in South America. He is diagnosed with Down Syndrome.
Arne is a sweet boy. He likes interacting with the other children, and playing soccer. He likes listening to music, and will give hugs to his caregivers! Arne is very affectionate, and likes playing outside, puzzles, and cutting and gluing. He is very calm, and enjoys going for walks.
Arne is able to communicate using basic signs, gestures, and simple phrases. Arne is small for his age, but very healthy and active.
Arne is diagnosed with Down Syndrome. This is a genetic disorder. There are three types of Down Syndrome, the most common being Trisomy 21. In Trisomy 21, there are three copies of the 21st chromosome instead of the typical two. Low muscle tone, heart defects, and thyroid disorders are very common with Down Syndrome. People with Down Syndrome also have distinct facial features, and often speech and motor delays. While there is a great spectrum of varying abilities like with most disabilities, many people with Down Syndrome go on to lead full, happy, and independent lives. Some will need lifelong care, while others may live alone, it just depends on the child!
There are MANY children with Down Syndrome waiting for forever families, both domestically and internationally. Many families desire to adopt a child with Down Syndrome specifically over other disabilities.
Arne is reported to be very healthy. Most of his delays with communication are likely related to his diagnosis. An agency can give more info.
Arne aka "Luca" with Reece's Rainbow has $1,783 in his personal grant towards his adoption! He also has a $5,000 grant with RR towards his adoption through the end of 2023! Luca also qualifies for a $1,000 grant with Madison Adoptions!
