"Ethan"

Meet sweet “Ethan”! Ethan is 9 years old, and living in Eastern Europe. He is diagnosed with a hearing impairment, hydrocephaly, cerebral palsy, and developmental delay. He was also born premature.

Ethan is a GEM! He is well developed mentally, and loves to play with his caregivers, balls, and other children in the home. Ethan likes to play hide and seek, and is a sweet little boy!

Ethan cannot walk yet, but can crawl, and can stand and move for short periods in his walker. It is recommended that he wear orthopedic shoes.

Ethan was born premature, at 27 weeks gestation. He was a fighter ever since he was born, spending 6 long weeks in the NICU on a ventilator. Ethan was placed in state care immediately after birth. It breaks my heart to know that this precious boy has been alone for so many long years, and has had to go through so much medical trauma and overcome obstacles without a family by his side. Ethan's diagnoses and delays are likely a result of his extreme prematurity. An agency can give more info.

Ethan needs a family to provide him with the love and therapy he needs to keep making progress.

Ethan has $1,896 in his personal grant with Reece's Rainbow towards his adoption!
UPDATE AUGUST 2022

Ethan was recently transferred to a new facility where he has adjusted well. He is not yet walking independently, but is able to walk with support or with a walker! Ethan is able to eat independently, and uses gestures to communicate. He can carry out simple one step instructions. His episodes of aggression have decreased since being transferred and being given more attention. Ethan is currently receiving one-on-one therapy, but still has developmental delays. Ethan is now listed as "Asher" with Carolina Adoption Services! His bio reads: Asher is described as calm and loves playing with stuffed animals. He loves spending time with his caregivers and will thrive in a loving family that can provide him with attention and care. I can't believe this handsome boy is still waiting for his forever family. UPDATE JULY 2023

Ethan is now listed as "Antonio" with Saint Mary International! His bio reads: Ethan's gross and fine motor skills are underdeveloped. He is currently nonverbal and severely delayed. Ethan is generally calm, and is no longer aggressive. He knows and reacts to his name being called, and smiles and makes eye contact when spoken to or touched. Ethan likes toys that are soft or make noises. It makes me so sad to know that this adorable little boy is still waiting for a family. Growing up through photos in an orphanage, instead of the arms of a mama and papa. How much longer until his chance comes? Please don't keep Ethan waiting!

Ethan is now listed as "Anand" with CCAI! His update reads: Sweet Ethan loves it when people pay attention to him - he smiles and makes eye contact whenever he's spoken to or touched. He's very calm and enjoys soft toys that make sound. The staff is working with him on building attention, establishing basic self-care habits, and social schools. Ethan does attend school classes. He has delays in physical and neuropsychic development, but he has shown great progress recently; he can independently stand and remain standing while holding a solid support, such as his bed railing. Ethan can stand on his toes and when placed in a walker he moves short distances. He can also crawl, and his fine motor skills are improving. Ethan can perform basic tasks. He has been diagnosed with bilateral neuro-sensory deafness and does pronounce continuous syllables.

Ethan is now listed as "Astor" with Children's House International! His update reads: Ethan is calm, and not aggressive towards himself or others. He recognizes his name and when he is being spoken to, a will smile and make eye contact. Ethan is totally dependent on his caregivers.

UPDATE OCTOBER 2023

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2023

Ethan is now listed as "Albert" with Agape Adoptions! His most recent update reads: 8 year old Ethan is a social and happy boy living in an Eastern European country. This sweet boy is very cuddly and loves showing affection to others. Ethan moved into a government center for children 3 months ago and has quickly become one of the favorite children amongst the caretakers. He is warm and friendly with everyone he meets and he enjoys communicating with people through nonverbal means. Ethan attends physical therapy twice a week and he is learning to walk on his own. Currently, he can walk using a walker, and with this support, he can move very quickly and easily. Although he has a motor delay, Ethan can feed himself and play with toys for their intended purposes. He loves playing catch with a ball and can throw it a good distance. Ethan does have hearing difficulties, but he responds to his name and other commands most of the time.

UPDATE DECEMBER 2024
With a heartbreaking update, I share that sweet "Ethan"'s family has had to make some extremely difficult decisions, and are no longer pursuing him. They simply stated "he would do wonderful in a family with the time to dedicate to his healing." The family has also said that they would be happy to share more information with an interested family. They also believe that he would likely do best as the youngest or only child in the family.

My heart is broken. The boy with the beautiful brown eyes who has waited his entire life, is back to waiting. I am so happy that the family recognized that they were unequipped to care for his needs long term rather than to have to dissolve the adoption in the future, so as to hopefully not cause further trauma. I am so sad that he is all alone again. Please SEE Ethan. His needs are intimidating, and he needs a family that CAN give him the time and love he so deserves, and not just another person who will walk away again. Please consider if he could be your son. I am CONFIDENT that the perfect family for him is out there!
