"Bowie"

Introducing sweet "Bowie"! Bowie is 4 years old and living in Eastern Europe. In addition to epilepsy, Bowie has a long list of diagnoses, including cerebral palsy and a neurogenerative disease. Bowie also has a feeding tube and a trach.

Bowie has spent almost his entire life in an orphanage and desperately needs out! He needs a mama to love him, and access to quality medical care and therapies. Bowie is still so young, there is still time for him to learn and grow in a family before it's too late!

Bowie is completely immobile and does not react to his environment. He is fully dependent on his caregivers. He has significant needs and is considered extremely medically fragile.

Bowie had genetic testing done that revealed a possible neurodegenerative disease, but further testing is recommended to confirm details. He has no swallow or gag reflexes, so is fed via ng tube. It may be possible that he has a condition known as hypomyelinating leukodystrophy, a condition in which the body is very spastic and immobile, as well as breathing and swallowing difficulties, and it is most common in children of Roma descent, but again, further genetic testing is required to be certain. Children with this condition typically die before 10 years old.

Bowie has uses a trach to help him breathe. A trach is inserted in a procedure in which a tube is inserted in the neck and windpipe. Trachs can be temporary or permanent, and need routine care and monitoring to ensure they are clean and still working as intended.

In Bowie's case, his trach was inserted as a treatment for congenital laryngeal stridor, which is an anomaly of the larynx, or voicebox. Stridor is caused by a weak larynx, and is a high-pitched sound that can be heard when the individual breathes in. The tube (trach) also prevents air from passing over the vocal cords, which can make it difficult to cry or talk. However, the air entering the lungs through the tube is not warmed, humidified, or cleaned, which can irritate the lungs. Bowie would likely greatly benefit from follow up care of his trach and lungs to ensure they are still working properly. An agency can give more info about Bowie's trach and it's impact on his daily life.

Bowie has $913 in his personal grant with Reece's Rainbow where he is listed as "Isaace"! He also has a $5,000 grant with Here I Am Orphan Ministries!

No information is provided about Bowie's diagnosis of epilepsy, but an agency can give more info.

Please don't let "Bowie" spend another year in an orphanage. He desperately needs a forever family that can give him the love, care, supports, and resources he so deserves. His needs make look intimidating, but this tiny little boy sure isn't. Make him your SON! Click the link to make an inquiry.

UPDATE AUGUST 2023

Bowie is now listed as "Isaace" with Reece's Reece's Rainbow! His most recent update reads: Bowie needs full care and always will, but he also needs a family to provide that care and the love that every child deserves. Is he your precious son? Click the link to inquire or donate towards Bowie's adoption!

Bowie is now listed as "Isaac" with Lifeline! His bio reads: Bowie is inactive and only lies in a passive position on the bed. He does not have any control over his head. He does not speak or make noise. He does not have any gross motor activity. There has been no improvement of his fine motor skills. Bowie’s body position has to be changed by caregivers. He has a severely increased muscle tone. He listens and sometimes can have unintentional emotional reactions such as a slight smile! Bowie needs a welcoming home with constant care catered towards his needs!! This little boy has stolen my heart. I pray his time for a family comes soon!

UPDATE JUNE 2024

Adorable little "Bowie" is now listed as "Evan" with Children's House International! His updated photo is just as cute, but I hate knowing that this tiny boy is still waiting. Bowie appears to be about the size of an infant, not a four year old boy. I hope and pray that he is seen soon and is able to get some quality medical care. Please don't let Bowie grow up an orphan!
