**Urgent: Most children diagnosed with Ellowyn's condition, pyruvate dehydrogenase deficiency, do not live past 5-6 years old. As of April 2024, Ellowyn is very healthy despite her condition, but life is unpredictable and she needs quality medical care ASAP to ensure the best quality of life, however long it may be.**

Introducing adorable "Ellowyn" aka "Tashi"! Ellowyn is 3 years old and living in Eastern Europe. She is diagnosed with microcephaly, pyruvate dehydrogenase deficiency, and cerebral palsy.


Ellowyn likes to play with toys and attention from her caregivers. Her favorite toys are ones that light up and make sounds. Ellowyn usually chooses red toys. 


Ellowyn can walk with assistance, though on her tiptoes. Her hands are in fists. Ellowyn is on a special diet due to her pyruvate dehydrogenase deficiency.

Ellowyn has a $2,000 grant with Hand in Hand where she is listed as "Thea"! She also has $2,583.93 in her personal grant with Reece's Rainbow where she is listed as "Thea"! 


Sweet "Ellowyn" aka "Tashi" is still so very young, and needs a family that will love her unconditionally. There is still time to scoop her up and get her the early interventions she desperately needs! Is Ellowyn the missing piece of your family?

UPDATE AUGUST 2023

Ellowyn is now listed as "Thea" with Nightlight Adoptions! Her update reads: Meet Ellowyn, this calm and smiley little girl! Ellowyn, is loved by all her caregivers, and it is reported that she reacts well with unfamiliar people and can often be found smiling. Ellowyn loves to play with toys that are bright and make sounds. Ellowyn’s gross motor skills and fine motor skills are something that she works on daily. Despite not being able to sit up on her own, Ellowyn continues to try every day. She is great at following subjects with her eyes and shows interest in music and telephones. Ellowyn is great at showing expressive emotions and is always laughing with her foster mother. I can't believe this little cutie is STILL waiting for her family! I pray she gets scooped up ASAP. Ellowyn is now listed as "Thea" with Children's House International! How cute is this precious little girl? And HOW has she been waiting so long? "Ellowyn is a calm child. She accepts communication with unfamiliar people, and reacts with a smile to an offered toy that is bright in color or makes a pleasant sound. Ellowyn tries to hold a small object in her hand, but quickly drops it. She follows objects of interest with her eyes, without trying to reach for them. Ellowyn shows interest in a limited number of stimuli, such as bright red or music sources (including telephone). She holds her gaze on another person for a short time and sometimes reacts with a smile. Expresses emotions of joy and pleasure to the foster mother by laughing and making sounds.

UPDATE MARCH 2024

Beautiful Ellowyn had a family on the way, but unfortunately they could not continue with the adoption. As heart wrenching as this is, it means that we MUST find her a new family soon! Ellowyn's condition of PDH (pyruvate dehydrogenase deficiency) is potentially life limiting, and she needs quality medical care ASAP. Praying that the perfect family for this perfect girl comes soon. Her most recent update reads: She is a very observant child who looks around her environment curiously and smiles at others whenever she sees them. Ellowyn is in physical therapy to help her motor development. She uses a wheelchair with built-in devices to help keep her head in an upright position. Ellowyn has a calm disposition and laughs often around people she is comfortable with. She loves playing with bright toys that make sounds and she enjoys listening to music. 

Ellowyn is now listed as "Olivia" with Children's House International! Her most recent update with Rainbowkids reads: Ellowyn, a sweet 3 year old has been diagnosed with a genetic neurodegenerative condition known as pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) deficiency. By the time she reached one year old, she experienced significant delays in neuropsychological development that coincided with a quadriparesis and microcephaly. Currently, she does not exhibit any apparent seizures, and her EEG readings are free of epileptiform activity. As part of her management plan, a specialized nutritional approach called KetoCal has been recommended to lower her carbohydrate consumption.


UPDATE APRIL 2024

Ellowyn is now listed as "Vada" with CCAI! Her most recent update reads: Sweet Ellowyn loves to laugh with her foster mother! She tries to walk with the support of an adult and will grab at objects, but it's hard for her to hold on to them. Vada makes ba-ma-ma sounds and listens when hearing sounds from musical toys. She also likes brightly colored toys, especially red ones. Vada has a rare genetic disease in which glucose cannot be absorbed, so she eats a modified ketogenic diet, which has given her good growth and weight gain. 



UPDATE JUNE 2024

Ellowyn is now listed as "Thalia" with Lifeline! Her most recent update reads: Sweet Ellowyn is a 3 year old little girl with significant special needs. Her motor activity is low. Ellowyn is attached to her foster parent and is able to form emotional attachments and bond with her caregivers. She laughs and smiles very often! Ellowyn reacts to sounds and laughter around her. She enjoys musical toys and ones that light up - especially red ones!
